Crime mapping is an interactive map that allows people to research crime and incidents reported to the Fayetteville Police Department within the last 30 days.
The program places icons on the street map representing reported crimes — from homicides to vandalism. When computer users click on the icon, the program displays the case number and the time and date the incident was reported. This allows people to see what is happening in their city and in their neighborhood.
Additionally, this mapping system allows the police department to provide valuable information about crime activity by neighborhood. One goal of the crime mapping is to get the public more involved in reducing crime by keeping them informed.
